Beacon
One-button civic live streaming for transparency.
View on GitHub →What Is Beacon?
Beacon is a one-button civic live streaming tool designed for transparency. Point it at a public meeting, press start, and the stream goes live — no production skills required, no editorial layer between the event and the public.
Key Features
- One-button streaming — Open the app, tap once, and you’re live. No configuration, no login walls, no pre-roll ads. The stream starts when you start it.
- Civic-first design — Built for city council meetings, school board hearings, community forums, and any public event where transparency matters more than production quality.
- Archival by default — Every stream is automatically archived and indexed. Public meetings shouldn’t disappear when the livestream ends.
Why It Exists
Most live streaming tools are built for entertainment or marketing. Beacon is built for accountability. When five people show up to a zoning hearing and the decision affects thousands, the least we can do is make sure anyone who wants to watch, can.
